From the earliest times Worcestershire has suffered from the ravages of fire. Early records show that Worcester Cathedral was plagued by fire on numerous occasions from the 11th century onwards. Inside the pages of Firefighting in Worcestershire are eight well illustrated chapters telling the story of firefighting in the county and showing the men, the engines, and the fires and other disasters encountered from the earliest days until 1974. The story continues in Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service by Clive Shearman.
