Another in Merseyside's fleet of blue vans is this community assistance unit, a 2006 Mercedes-Benz 4x4 Sprinter, DK56 JXL, operated in conjunction with Merseyside Police.

The service's first small fires unit (targeted response vehicle) was introduced in 2006. This is a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 413CDi 4x4, DK54 HZU.

The second, DK56 JXE, was new in 2006. Both appliances are based at Service Headquarters in Bootle and respond anywhere in the brigade area.

They are crewed by thee firefighters and respond to small nuisance fires caused by anti-social behaviour.

In 2007 Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service introduced the concept of a rehabilitation unit for firefighters. This Ford Transit TDCi van, DK56 JXF, carries water and energy drinks, cooling vests and medical equipment to help fire crews recover from the demands of firefighting, particularly in high-rise buildings.
