Kent was the first brigade in the country to adopt the Bronto 28.2T1 aerial ladder platform. This is the first operational appliance, a Scania P92M (D995 PKN), put on the run in 1987 at Maidstone. It later replaced the Simon Snorkel at Medway, where it is seen after a refurbishment. Similar appliances were on the run at Thames-side and Tunbridge Wells.

In 1988 the brigade acquired this Scania G92M / Carmichael / Magirus DL30 turntable ladder (E498 WKO). It was originally allocated to Canterbury but later served at Thanet where it seen in this photograph.

This 1982 Dennis DF133/ Carmichael / Magirus DL30 turntable ladder (CWY 157Y) was bought from West Yorkshire Fire Service in 1995. It remained on the fleet until 2003.
