In 1958 two Bedford S / Morris / Magirus 100ft mechanically-operated turntable ladders were put on the run. This one (887 BKO) served at Medway until replaced by a hydraulic platform in 1980.

All Kent firemen were invited to submit suggestions for incorporation into the design of a new pumping appliance in 1964. The result was the Commer VAKS / HCB-Angus known as the K2, the first of which went on the run at Dartford in 1965. This 1966 example (HKT 123D) was one of a batch built on the VBKW chassis.

Later Magirus turntable ladders were hydraulically-powered and distinguished by their enclosed turrets. Three were supplied by David Haydon on Bedford S chassis and three on Commer C7 chassis, as 886 NKL seen here at Maidstone.
