OKE 636 was the first of three Leyland Comet pumps built by Windovers of Hendon for Kent in 1951/52. It was allocated to Beckenham and was one of the first appliances to carry a Merryweather 45ft alloy ladder.

Kenex of Ashford, Kent, built another eight pumps for the brigade on the Leyland Comet chassis. This one, KCE 400 at Bromley, utilised a surplus chassis purchased from Cambridgeshire Fire Brigade in 1950.

Five water tenders were also built for the brigade by Kenex on the Commer 21A chassis in 1951.
