Guy lines are attached to the submersible pump to assist in deployment and to secure the pump once it is in the water, and sufficient short lengths of 150mm delivery hose are coupled to reach the position of the Hydrosub. 4 x 5m and 3 x 10m lengths are carried for this purpose. The submersible pump is then put into the water and crew members engaged in this activity within 3 metres of the water's edge must wear water safety PPE (personal protective equipment).

The pump can be manoeuvred over obstructions to get it in the water but the easiest route is taken.
