Link to Kent Fire & Rescue Service

The Red Lion public house, High Street, Bridge, Canterbury, Kent, on 10 May 2006, two weeks before it was due to re-open after a 6-month refurbishment and extension.

At 01.19 hours on Thursday, 11 May, Kent Fire & Rescue Service received the first of 14 calls to a fire at the premises.

This was the scene minutes after the first attendance of Canterbury’s rescue pump ladder and pump had arrived. The first jet was quickly got to work but it was immediately apparent that further resources would be required to control the fire.
