Link to London Fire Brigade

This first-strike appliance (MGY 1L) was a Bedford CF / HCB-Angus new in 1972. Similar units were tried, with little success, by various brigades in an attempt to beat traffic congestion and provide sufficient fire extinguishing capability for small fires.

This chemical incident unit (PAN 4E) was put on the run in 1975 to attend all major alerts with a trained crew under the guidance of a Greater London Council scientific officer. It was converted from one of three Commer KC40 / Wadham control units new in 1967.

In 1979 the brigade commissioned a new Ford D0810 / Hawson chemical incident unit (YHV 182T).
