The boats were powered by two Honda 90hp engines and had a top speed of 35 knots. Equipment carried included a generator and floodlights, two 550 l/min submersible pumps, 90 litres of AFFF (foam) and four breathing apparatus sets.

 

In 1998 the brigade commissioned two 7.9m Delta rigid inflatable boats for use on the estuarial waters of the Rivers Thames and Medway. This 1988 Land Rover 127, F97 DKN, was the towing vehicle for Fire Launch 39, and its predecessors, based at Strood.

 

New Land Rover 110 Td5 vehicles fitted out by Keam of Whitstable were acquired in 1999 as towing vehilces for the estuarial boats then based at Strood and Sheppey. T810 TKM is seen here at Strood.
