1952

Personnel were 14 whole-time at each station, 667 volunteer rescue workers from the mines

Benwell, Crook, Houghton and Ashington, as ‘A’ stations, had in service 1 heavy motor pump, 1 rescue tender, 1 trailer pump

Winscales, as a ‘B’ station, had in service 1 trailer pump, 1 ambulance

 

1953

Personnel at Benwell, Crook, Houghton and Ashington, as ‘A’ stations, were 17 whole-time

Appliances in service at each were 1 heavy motor pump, 2 rescue tenders, 1 Bedford/Jensen tender and trailer pump

Personnel at Winscales, as a ‘B’ station, were 8 whole-time

Appliances in service at Winscales were 2 rescue tenders, 2 trailer pumps, 1 ambulance

A total of 667 volunteer rescue workers served all 5 stations

 

1954

Personnel were 73 whole-time, 740 volunteer rescue workers

  Appliances in service were 7 motor pumps, .5 trailer pumps, 5 rescue cars, 6 rescue practice vans, 1 ambulance (at Winscales)

 

1955

Personnel were 77 whole-time, 667 volunteer rescue workers

  Appliances in service were 7 motor pumps, .5 trailer pumps, 5 rescue cars, 6 rescue practice vans, 1 ambulance (at Winscales)

 

1956 1957

Personnel were 79 whole-time, 740 part-time volunteer rescue workers...

1958

Personnel were 79 whole-time, 701 part-time volunteers

Appliances in service were  5 trailer pumps, 5 rescue cars, 6 rescue practice vans, 1 ambulance (at Winscales)

 

1959 1960

Personnel were 79 whole-time, 701 part-time volunteers

Appliances in service were  5 trailer pumps, 5 rescue cars, 8 rescue practice vans,1 ambulance (at Winscales)

 

1961

Personnel were 72 whole-time, 700 part-time volunteers

Personnel were 70 whole-time, 650 part-time volunteers

Winscales closed as a fire & rescue brigade station but remained as an NCB mines rescue station

Personnel were 58 whole-time, 456 part-time volunteers
